Paro Taktshang (In 809 where Guru Rinpoche Meditiate)

The Cave was named (Taktshang) after Guru Rinpoche flew into the cave from (Kurtoe singye Dzong) in Eastern Bhutan riding on tigress.

Travel by Air

You can fly to Bhutan from Bangkok, Delhi, Kolkata, Bagdogra, Bodh Gaya, Dhaka, Kathmandu, Guwahati, Singapore and Mumbai.

Bhutan has one international airport in Paro and three domestic airports one each in Bumthang, Yonphula and Gelephu. Paro international airport is situated at a height of 2,225 m (7300 ft) above sea level and is surrounded by mountains as high as 4,876 m (16,000 ft).

Travel by Land

You can also travel by means of road transportation to Bhutan through the southern Bhutan border town of Phuntsholing which is located approximately 170 km east of the Indian national airport at Bagdogra via West Bengal (India) or through Samdrupjongkhar which is approximately 150 kms away from Guwahati, the capital city of Assam.
Tentative Festival Dates 2024

Tshechu is a religious festival meaning "tenth day" held annually in various temples, monasteries and dzongs throughout the country. The Tshechu is a religious event celebrated on tenth day of a month of the lunar calendar corresponding to the birthday of Guru Rimpoche (Guru Padmasambhava). However the exact month of the Tshechu varies from place to place and temple to temple. Tshechus are grand events where entire communities come together to witness religious mask dances, receive blessings and socialize.
